The Symposium on the Awareness of South Asian Issues is designed as an intercollegiate conference to create awareness and encourage activism not only among South Asians, but throughout the minority community. We invite South Asians from Penn and the greater Philadelphia area to join in this event featuring numerous discussions, speakers and cultural activities. The overarching goal of this symposium is to view political and social issues through a South Asian lens, but in the end, to create awareness that many similar issues affect all minority communities. To promote this unity, each workshop is co-sponsored with at least one other campus organization, ranging from cultural groups to service institutions to performing arts organizations.
